Train the Trainers.

Who is this aimed at / what sort of trainers?

Whilst the principles of exercise prescription apply to everyone, some specialist knowledge is also required to provide safe exercise programmes for older adults. At WellMark, we have been developing and delivering training programmes for over 10 years, from simple half day seminars for those without exercise qualifications but who work with older adults through to more comprehensive courses aimed at upskilling exercise professionals.

Who are we?

The WellMark team have developed and run active ageing programmes for older adults since the early 2000’s. We are tertiary and vocationally qualified and work with the School of Sport and Recreation at AUT university in Auckland to develop and deliver content for various AUT courses. We have also developed and delivered courses for the ACC Community Strength and Balance programme, ‘Live Stronger for Longer’.

Is there any follow-up or refresher training?

Whilst each course is designed to give the participants the knowledge and skill to work with older adults, we do encourage practitioners to come and update their knowledge. Note that much of our training content is now delivered on-line as self-paced learning and may not require physical attendance at a course.

Is this training recognised? Is it certified?

Our training courses are recognised by Exercise NZ for the award of continuing professional development points (REPS-registered trainers).

How much?

Prices vary depending on the content and student numbers; our off-the-shelf courses are very cost-effective, whilst we are happy to develop a training module specific to the need of your staff. Contact the team to discuss your requirements.
